ecclesia song

We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love
ecclesia, ecclesia, Church at the Chip

Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 20

1 May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble!

May the name of the God of Jacob protect you!

2 May he send you help from the sanctuary

and give you support from Zion!

3 May he remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices!

4 May he grant you your heart's desire
    and fulfill all your plans!

5 May we shout for joy over your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our banners!

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!

6 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven

with the saving might of his right hand.

7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses,

but we all trust in the name of the Lord our God.

8 They collapse and fall,

but we rise and stand upright.

9 O Lord, save the king!

May he answer us when we call.

And All the People Said Amen

You are not alone, if you are lonely

When you feel afraid, you're not the only

We are all the same, in need of mercy

To be forgiven and be free

It's all you got to lean on but thank God it's all you need

And all the people said Amen

And all the people said Amen

Give thanks to the Lord for his love never ends

And all the people said Amen

If you think you're poor, well it don't matter

Weak or strong, we know love is all we're after

We're all broken but we're all in this together

God knows we stumble and fall

And he so loved the world

He sent his son to save us all

Blessed are the poor in spirit who are torn apart

Blessed are the persecuted and the pure in heart

Blessed are the people hungry for another start

For theirs is the Kingdom, the Kingdom of God

   Chorus (2x)

I've Been Set Free

   I've been set free

   I've been set free

Since Jesus saved my soul I've been set free

With blinded eyes I could not see

   But the Lord delivered me

Now I praise his holy name

   I've been set free

Once when Jesus came to town

Everybody gathered round

All the sick and lame were brought to him that day

When the blind man begged for sight

He shouted out with great delight

Jesus touched his eyes and healed him on that day

Once my life was steeped in sin

But I wouldn't let him in

I thought that I could make it on my own

Farther down sin's road I went

Saw no reason to repent

Then Jesus intervened and rescued me

Sinner friend if you're in doubt

And you see there's no way out

You find yourself alone in sinkin' sand

Why not give my God a try

Your thirsty soul he'll satisfy

You'll find your place in heaven when you die

His Mercy is More

What love could remember no wrongs we have done

Omniscient, all-knowing, he counts not their sum

Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore

Our sins, they are many, his mercy is more

   Praise the Lord!

   His mercy is more

Stonger than darkness, new every morn

Our sins, they are many, his mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam

What Father, so tender, is calling us home

He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor

Our sins, they are many, his mercy is more

What riches of kindness he lavished on us

His blood was the payment, his life was the cost

We stood 'neath the debt we could never afford

Our sins, they are many, his mercy is more

   Chorus (3x)

The Authority of Jesus: Over Sickness
Steve Gilbertson
Matthew 7:28-8:17

After completing the first of Jesus' five blocks of teaching
(The Sermon on the Mount), Matthew begins to show that Jesus,
"The World's True King," also has authority over illness, over
nature, and over the powers of evil (chs. 8-9). We begin this
section by seeing Jesus' special concern to bring healing to
people often overlooked by "respectable" society.

28 And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished
at his teaching, 29 for he was teaching them as one who had authority,
and not as their scribes.

8 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, "Lord,
if you will, you can make me clean." 3 And Jesus stretched out his hand
and touched him, saying, "I will; be clean." And immediately his leprosy
was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone,
but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded,
for a proof to them."

5 When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing
to him, 6 "Lord, my serant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly." 7 And
he said to him, "I will come and heal him." 8 But the centurion replied, "Lord, I
am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my
servant will be healed. 9 For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under
me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes, and to another, 'Come,' and he comes,
and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 10 When Jesus heard this, he
marveled and said to those who followed him, "Truly, I tell you, with no one in
Israel have I found such faith. 11 I tell you many will come from east and west
and recline at table with Abraham, Issac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
12 while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that
place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." 13 And to the centurion Jesus
said, "Go; let it be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed
at that very moment.

14 And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with
a fever. 15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began
to sev him. 16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by
demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.
17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "He took our
illnesses and bore our diseases."
