ecclesia song

We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love
ecclesia, ecclesia, Church at the Chip

   Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 36

1 Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart;
    there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes
    that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
3 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit;
    he has ceased to act wisely and do good.
4 He plots trouble while on his bed;
    he sets himself in a way that is not good;

    he does not reject evil.

5 Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the clouds.
6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
    your judgments are like the great deep;

     man and beast you save, O Lord.

7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
    The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
8 They feast on the abundance of your house,
    and you give them drink from the river of your delights.

9 For with you is the fountain of life;
    in your light do we see light.

10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
    and your righteousness to the upright of heart!

11 Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There the evildoers lie fallen;
    they are thrust down, unable to rise.

The Lamb Has Overcome

The Lamb has overcome
The Lamb has overcome
The battle's done
And the victory is won
For the Lamb has overcome

No grave could hold him down
No grave could hold him down
Up from the ground
"He is risen!" was the sound
No grave could hold him down

At God's right hand is he
At God's right hand is he
Our Perfect Plea
How he lives to intercede!
At God's right hand is he

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Glory be unto his name (2x)

The table now is spread
The table now is spread
This wine and bread
Broken body and blood shed
The table now is spread

The day is drawing near
The day is drawing near
He shall appear
And will wipe away each tear
The day is drawing near

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Glory be unto his name (4x)

The Lamb has overcome
The Lamb has overcome
The battle's done
And the victory is won
For the Lamb has overcome

I Will Follow

When the sea is calm and all is right
When I feel your favor flood my life
Even in the good, I'll follow you
Even in the good, I'll follow you
When the boat is tossed upon the waves
When I wonder if you'll keep me safe
Even in the storms, I'll follow you
Even in the storms, I'll follow you

   I believe everything that you say you are
   I believe that I have seen your unchanging heart
   In the good things and in the hardest part
   I believe and I will follow you
   I believe and I will follow you

When I see the wicked prospering
When I feel I have no voice to sing
Even in the want, I'll follow you
Even in the want, I'll follow you

   Chorus

When I find myself so far from home
And you lead me somewhere I don't wanna go
Even in my death, I'll follow you
Even in my death, I'll follow you
When I come to end this race I've run
And I receive the prize that Christ has won
I will be with you in paradise
I will be with you in paradise

   Chorus (2x)

It is Well

When peace, like a river attendeth my way
When sorrow like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say
"It is well, it is well, with my soul"

 It is well with my soul
   It is well, it is well, with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let this blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed his own blood for my soul

   Chorus

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul

   Chorus

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend
Even so, it is well with my soul

 Chorus

Imago Dei (the Image of God)

Steve Gilbertson
Genesis 1:26-28, Matthew 12:9-14, and Colossians 3:9-10

The opening words of Holy Scripture reveal humanity's lofty identity: We are made
"in the image of God." It is repeated three times for emphasis in Genesis 1:26-27.
The implications of this are enormous, but today we will focus on this question:
What does the teaching of humanity as the image of God mean, and how does it
affect the way we view our identity and our mission as a church?

Genesis 1:26-28
26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock
and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

27     So God created man in his own image,
          in the image of God he created him;
          male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth
and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens
and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Matthew 12:9-14
9 He went on from there and entered their synagogue. 10 And a man was there with a withered
hand. And they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?"- so that they might accuse
him. 11 He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath,
will not take hold of and lift it out? 12 Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is
lawful to do good on the Sabbath." 13 Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And the
man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. 14 But the Pharisees went out
and conspired against him, how to destroy him.

Colossians 3:9-10
9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have
put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
