We're Back!

Public Worship at 9:00 every Sunday at the Buffalo Chip

We’re so happy we can meet together again. We’ve missed you! As an act of Christian love, and in order to maintain a safe worship environment, please note the following:

• If you have cold or flu symptoms or a weakened immune system, please do not put yourself (or others) at risk. We offer live online worship on our church website so you can worship safely in your home.

• Please wear a mask while not seated.

• For your safety, our volunteers are wearing gloves and masks as they hand out bulletins and Communion. We will not be serving coffee or other treats.

• Please refrain from gathering in groups (outside of your families), and practice appropriate social distancing. Please seat yourselves with 6 feet between your household and others.

• At the close of our worship gathering, please exit promptly, as the Buffalo Chip must close our entry gates as soon as possible.

If for health or other reasons, you are not able to worship with us at the Chip, we invite you to join us for our live worship broadcast each Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Simply press the green tab above called "Worship Service".

Please pray with us that the virus will be contained soon, that God would grant healing to those near and far away who are affected by it, and that God would give wisdom to medical and government personnel who are on the front lines of dealing with the crisis.

Psalm 54

1    O God, save me by your name,
and vindicate me by your might.
2    O God, hear my prayer;
give ear to the words of my mouth.

3    For strangers have risen against me;
        ruthless men seek my life;
they do not set God before thenselves.     Selah

4    Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life.

5    He will return the evil to my enemies;
in your faithfulness put an end to them.

6    With a freewill offering I will sacrifice to you;
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good.

7     For he has delivered me from every trouble,
and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.

Raise a Hallelujah

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar
Up from the ashes, hope will arise
Death is defeated, the King is alive!

I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me
I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee
I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery
I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!

Sing a little louder (in the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (my weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder!

Ain't No Grave

O my Lord, it's a winding road
It's all bent from a heavy load
Feel the weight beneath the ground
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

O my Lord, I can barely sing
Waiting for you and your reckoning
Angels humming, can you hear the sound
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

I will rise, I will rise, I will rise, I will rise
 Troubles come for everyone
Death has no respect for love
Roll that stone I won't be found
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

Lord, I'm crooked from head to toe
Got dirty hands and a dirty soul
I was lost but now I'm found
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

Woah, Woah, Woah
Feel the weight beneath the ground
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

Woah, Woah, Woah
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down
Ain't no grave gonna hold me down

Because He Lives

I believe in the Son
I believe in the risen One
I believe I overcome
By the power of his blood

   Amen, Amen
I'm alive, I'm alive because he lives
   Amen, Amen
Let my song join the one that never ends
   Because he lives

I was dead in the grave
I was covered in sin and shame
I heard mercy call my name
He rolled the stone away

(Because he lives) I can face tomorrow
Because he lives every fear is gone
I know he holds my life, my future in his hand

   Chorus (2x)
   Because he lives
   Because he lives

The Lesson of the Waves
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Matthew 14:22-36
Steve Gilbertson

Last week we saw how Jesus invited his disciples to share in the feeding of the
5000. For the first time, they were able, much to their astonishment, to
participate in Jesus' miraculous ministry. Today, in Jesus' continuing "discipling
of his disciples," they are given another lesson -- this time in a harrowing sea

Matthew 14:22-36

13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate
place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from
the towns. 14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion
on them and healed their sick. 15 Now when it was evening, the disciples came to
him and said, "This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds
away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves." 16 But Jesus said, "They
need not go away; you give them something to eat." 17 They said to him, "We have
only five loaves here and two fish." 18 And he said, "Bring them here to me." 19 Then
he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two
fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave
them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 And they all ate
and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

22 Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other
side, while he dismissed the crowds. 23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went
up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24 but
the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was
against them. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea.
26 But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, "It is
a ghost!" and they cried out in fear. 27 But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, "Take
heart; it is I. Do not be afraid."

28 And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."
29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me."
31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little
faith, why did you doubt?" 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those
in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God."

34 And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of
that place recognized him, they sent around to all that region and brought to him all who were sick
36 and implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his garment. And as many as touched
it were made well.
