ecclesia song

We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love
ecclesia, ecclesia, Church at the Chip

Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 57

1    Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
        for in you my soul takes refuge;
in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
till the storms of destruction pass by.
2    I cry out to God Most High,
to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
3    He will send from heaven and save me;
he will put to shame him who tramples on me.
             Selah
God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness!

4    My soul is in the midst of lions;
I lie down amid fiery beasts-

the children of man, whose teeth are spears and arrows,
         whose tongues are sharp swords.

5    Be exalted, O God, above the hevens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!

6    They set a net for my steps;
        my soul was bowed down.

They dug a pit in my way,
but they have fallen into it themselves.        Selah
7     My heart is steadfast, O God,
         my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
8       Awake, my glory!
      Awake, O harp and lyre!
         I will awake the dawn!
9    I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10   For your steadfast love is great to the heavens,
         your faithfulness to the clouds.

11   Be exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!

Empty Grave

Wipe away those tears child
There's no need to cry
Stand up on your feet now
Lift your head up high
Don't wait 'till tomorrow lay down your sorrow
Freedom is here today
Wipe away those tears child
Put down your shame

Oh I see an empty grave
   I hear the heavens waking
   Angels in jubilation
   That stone's been rolled away
   I feel the darkness breaking
   I bet the devil's shaking
   Somebody celebrate
   I see an empty grave

Repeat Verse and Chorus

Wipe away those tears child
Go and tell the news
What started in the garden
Was finished in the tomb
It's all reversed
The apple the curse
Three days in the ground
Christ our Lord is risen
Death couldn't hold him down

Welcome Table

I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
I'm gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days
I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
Sit at the welcome table one of these days, one of these days

I'm gonna feast on milk and honey
I'm gonna feast on milk and honey one of these days
I'm gonna feast on milk and honey
Gonna feast on milk and honey one of these days

   Chorus

All God's children gonna sit together
All God's children gonna sit together one of these days, hallelujah
All God's children gonna sit together
All God's children gonna sit together one of these days, one of these days

   Chorus

We Are a Family

We are a family, for Christ has made us one
His blood is flowing through our veins
We are sisters and brothers, daughters and sons

When one of us is hurting, the rest all share the pain
When another is rejoicing, there is singing and shouting
Celebration reigns!
There is in us a unity which cannot be destroyed
In Christ we have become a family

   Chorus

You are my brother, though I do not know your name
You are my sister, though you speak a different language
And we don't even look the same
There is in us a unity which cannot be destroyed
In Christ we have become a family

   Chorus

You are my mother, come and comfort me again

You are my father, won't you offer me forgiveness
And help me to find grace again
There is in us a unity which cannot be destroyed
In Christ we have become a family

We are a family, for Christ has made us one

His blood is flowing through our veins

   We are sisters and brothers

   Fathers and mothers

   Daughters and sons

   Hmm ... Amen

Put on the New Self (2)
Eastertide, 2021

Colossians 3:1-17
Steve Gilbertson

Easter is too important to be celebrated only one Sunday a year! During
this Eastertide season, we continue our reflection on the present-day
significance of the resurrection of Jesus. Last week we looked at the first
portion of Colossians 3, where we learned that the resurrection allows us
to live a brand new, more "humane" life. This week, in the latter portion of
the text, we will see that the resurrection also enables us to live in a new
family.

Colossians 3:1-17

1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above,
not on things that are on earth. 3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with
Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with
him in glory.

5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion,
evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of
God is coming. 7 In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. 8 But
now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk
from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old
self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in
knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew,
circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all,
and in all.

12 Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts,
kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one
has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so
you must also forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything
together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to
which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ
dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever
you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God
the Father through him.
