We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love

   Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 63

1    O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
        my soul thirsts for you;
     my flesh faints for you,
         as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2    So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
         beholding your power and glory.
3    Because your steadfast love is better than life,
        my lips will praise you.
4    So I will bless you as long as I live;
        in your name I will lift up my hands.

5    My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
        and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
6    when I remember you upon my bed,
        and meditate on you in the watches of the night;

7     for you have been my help,
         and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8    My soul clings to you;
         your right hand upholds me.

9    But those who seek to destroy my life
         shall go down into the depths of the earth;
10   they shall be given over to the power of the sword;
         they shall be a portion for jackals.
11   But the king shall rejoice in God;
         all who swear by him shall exult,
         for the mouths of liars will be stopped.

Raise a Hallelujah

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

   I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
   Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar
   Up from the ashes, hope will arise
   Death is defeated, the King is alive!

I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me
I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee
I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery
I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!

Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)
Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)
Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)
Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)
Sing a little louder!

Oh How I Need You

Lord, I find you in the seeking
Lord, I find you in the doubt
And to know you is to love you
And to know so little else

   I need you, Oh, how I need you
   Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
   (repeat all)

Lord, I find you in the morning
Lord, I seek you every day
Let my life be for your glory
Woven in your threads of grace

   Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
   Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you

   Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh

Light, glorious light, I will go where you shine
Break the dawn, crack the skies
Make the way bright before me
In your light I will find

All I need, all I need is you

   Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you

   Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you

I Can't Even Walk

I thought number one would surely be me
I thought I could be what I wanted to be
I thought I could build on life's sinking sand
But now I can't even walk without you holding my hand

   Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
   The mountains too high and the valleys too wide

   Down on my knees that's where I learned to stand
   Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand

I thought I could do a lot on my own
I thought I could make it all alone
I thought of myself as a mighty big man
But Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand

I think I'll make Jesus my all and all
And if I'm in trouble on his name I'll call
If I didn't trust him, I'd be less of a man
'Cause Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand

Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand

The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Matthew 15:1-20
Steve Gilbertson

Following our springtime sojourn through Lent, Holy Week, and Eastertide, we
return to our study of Matthew, where we find Jesus in conflict with the religious
leaders of his day. Why did these sincerely religious people get sideways with
Jesus? And how can we avoid the same mistake?

Matthew 15:1-20

1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, 2 "Why do your
disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they
eat." 3 He answered them, "And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake
of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and,
'Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.' 5 But you say, 'If anyone tells his father
or his mother, "What you would have gained from me is given to God," 6 he need not honor
his father.' So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God. 7 You
hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said:

 8   "'This people honors me with their lips,
         but their heart is far from me;
 9    in vain do they worship me,
         teaching as doctrines the commandments of of men.'"

10 And he called the people to him and said to them, "Hear and understand: 11 it is not what
goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a
person." 12 Then the disciples came and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were
offended when they heard this saying?" 13 He answered, "Every plant that my heavenly Father
has not planted will be rootted up. 14 Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind
lead the blind, both will fall into a pit." 15 But Peter said to him, "Explain the parable to us."
16 And he said, "Are you also still without undersatnding? 17 Do you not see that whatever goes
into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? 18 But what comes out of the mouth
proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts,
murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft false witness, slander. 20 These are what defile a
person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone."
