Psalm 65

1    Praise is due to you, O God, in Zion,
and to you shall vows be performed.
2    O you who hear prayer,
to you shall all flesh come.
3    When iniquities prevail against me,
        you atone for our transgressions.
4    Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,
        to dwell in your courts!

We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
         the holiness of your temple!

5    By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness,
        O God of our salvation,
the hope of all the ends of the earth
         and of the farthest seas;
6    the one who by his strength established the mountains,
         being girded with might;
7    who stills the roaring of the seas,
         the roaring of their waves,
         the tumult of the peoples,
8    so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are
     in awe at your signs.
You make the going out of the morning and the
     evening to shout for joy.

9    You visit the earth adn water it;
         you greatly enrich it;
      the river of God is full of water;
         you provide their grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10   You water its furrows abundantly,
         settling its ridges,
      softening it with showers,
         and blessing its growth,
11   You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
12   The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13   the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.

Let My Life be a Light

Let me live, blessed Lord, in the light of thy word
Let my life be a light on a hill
Leading souls now astray to the straight narrow way
Help me do some good deed while I live

Let my life be a light shining out through the night
May I help struggling ones to the fold
Spreading cheer everywhere to the sad and the lone
Let my life be a light to some soul

Give me wisdom and power, every day, every hour
Let me drink from the fountain above
And guide my footsteps aright through this dark and stormy night
Give me peace, give me joy, give me love

Give me souls for my hire, let my light be on fire
Shining out to the world as a guide
Help me rescue somone sinking now with no hope
That in Heaven we shall ever abide

My Beloved

My Beloved, bring me awake
Take me up to your resurrection place
My Beloved, bring me awake
'Cause I want to feel your light on my face

There's a sun coming up in my soul, Lord, in my soul
There's a sun coming up in my soul, Lord, in my soul
(Repeat all above)

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh thank you God, I see the light

My Beloved, bring me away
Over Jordan and out of this place
My Beloved, for you I wait
With you here 'til forever face to face

There's a sun coming up in my soul, Lord, in my soul
There's a sun coming up in my soul, Lord, in my soul

No more sorrow, no more pain
No more darkness weighing down on me
No longer blind, now I can see
Forever light, forever free...

Forever light, forever light
Forever light, forever light
I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh, thank you, God, I see the light

I see the light, I see the light
I see the light, I see the light
Oh thank you God, oh thank you God
I see the light

Abide with Me

I have a home, eternal home
But for now I walk this broken world
You walked it first, you know our pain
But you show hope can rise again up from the grave

Abide with me, abide with me
Don't let me fall, and don't let go
Walk with me and never leave
*Ever close, God abide with me
      (repeat last time)

There in the night, Gethsemane
Before the cross, before the nails
Overwhelmed, alone you prayed
You met us in our suffering and bore our shame

Oh love that will not ever let me go
Love that will not ever let me go
You never let me go
Love that will not ever let me go

And up ahead, eternity
We'll weep no more and sing for joy
Abide with me
We'll weep no more and sing for joy
Abide with me

A Surprise Reprise
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Matthew 15:29-39
Steve Gilbertson

One of the surprising things about Jesus, and especially the early church, was
the way that Gentiles were welcomed into God's family -- without first becoming
Jews. We see this happening in Jesus' ministry in Matthew 15, culminating with the
surprise reprise of Jesus' miraculous feeding a multitude. Why this redundant story?
We'll explore that today.

Matthew 15:29-39

21 And Jesus went away from there and withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And
behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and was crying, "Have mercy on me,
O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely oppressed by a demon." 23 But he did not
answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she
is crying out after us." 24 He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of
Israel." 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." 26 And he answered,
"It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." 27 She said, "Yes, Lord,
yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." 28 Then Jesus answered
her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was
healed instantly.

29 Jesus went on from there and walked beside the Sea of Galilee. And he went up on the
mountain and sat down there. 30 And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the lame,
the blind, the crippled, the mute, and many others, and they put them at his feet, and he healed
them, 31 so that the crowd wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy,
the lame walking, and the blind seeing. And they glorified the God of Israel.

32 Then Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because
they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send
them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." 33 And the disciples said to him, "Where are we
to get enough bread in such a desolate place to feed so great a crowd?" 34 And Jesus said to them,
"How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish." 35 And directing the crowd
to sit down on the ground, 36 he took the seven loaves and the fish, and having given thanks he
broke them and gave them to the disciples and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 37 And they
all ate and were satisfied. And they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. 38 Those
who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children. 39 And after sending away the crowds,
he got into the boat and went to the region of Magadan.
