We're Back!

Please pray with us that the virus will be contained soon, that God would grant healing to those near and far away who are affected by it, and that God would give wisdom to medical and government personnel who are on the front lines of dealing with the crisis.

Psalm 82

1   God has taken his place in the divine council;
in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
2   "How long will you judge unjustly
and show partiality to the wicked?        Selah
3   Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
4   Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked."

5   They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
       they walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.

6   I said, "You are gods,
       sons of the Most High, all of you;
7   nevertheless, like men you shall die,
       and fall like any prince."

8   Arise, O God, judge the earth;
for you shall inherit all the nations!

God So Loved the World

Come all you weary, come all you thirsty
Come to the well that never runs dry
Drink of the water, come and thirst no more

Come all you sinners, come find his mercy
Come to the table, he will satisfy
Taste of his goodness, find what you're looking for

For God so loved the world that he gave us
His one and only Son to save us
Whoever believes in him will live forever

Bring all your failures, bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting there with open arms (see his open arms)

   Chorus

The power of hell forever defeated
Now it is well, I'm walking in freedom
For God so loved, God so loved the world

Praise God, praise God
From whom all blessings flow
Praise him, praise him
For the wonders of his love
(repeat)

For God so loved the world that he gave us
His one and only Son to save

   Chorus

The power of hell forever defeated
Now it is well, I'm walking in freedom
For God so loved, God so loved the world

Bring all your failures, bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting
God so loved the world

Ain't No Grave

There ain't no grave can hold my body down
There ain't no grave can hold my body down
When I hear that trumpet sound
I'm gonna rise right out of the ground
Ain't no grave can hold my body down

Well, look down yonder, Gabriel
Put your feet on the land and sea
But Gabriel, don't you blow your trumpet 'til you hear it from me
Well, look way down the river
What do you think I see
I see a band of angels, and they're coming after me

   Chorus

Well, meet me, Jesus, meet me
Meet me in the air
And if these wings don't fail me
I will meet you anywhere
I'm going down to the river of Jordan
Bury my knees beneath the sand
Gonna holler high hosanna 'til I see that promised land

   Chorus

Well, look way down the river
What do you think I see
I see a band of angels, and they're coming after me

   Chorus

I Am Set Free

You broke my chains of sin and shame
And you covered me with grace
You mend my life with your holy fire
You cover me with grace
And you are the hand that reaches out to save

(And) I am set free oh
   I am set free oh
It is for freedom that I am set free

You broke my chains of sin and shame
And you covered me with grace
You mend my life with your holy fire
You cover me with grace

And you are the hand that reaches out to save

   Chorus (2x)

(And) yes Lord we are grateful for your grace
And for your love
(repeat 4x)

'Cause you are the hand that reaches out to save

   Chorus

What Kind of King is This?
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Matthew 21:1-17
Steve Gilbertson

Matthew, as we have seen, portrays Jesus as "the world's true King." But Jesus has
been curiously reticent about proclaiming this to the world -- that is, until now.
Finally, he is ready to receive the adulation of the crowds in the event we typically
call the Triumphal Entry. Why does Jesus choose this moment to affirm his kingship?
Why does he enter on a lowly donkey? And why does he clear out the Temple? What
kind of King is this?

Matthew 21:1-17

21 Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives,
then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, "Go into the village in front of you, and
immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord needs them,' and he will send them
at once." 4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying,

5    "Say to the daughter of Zion,
'Behold, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.'"

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt
and put on them their cloaks, and he sat on them. 8 Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the
road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 And the crowds that
went before him and that followed him were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he
who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!" 10 And when he entered Jerusalem,
the whole city was stirred up, saying, "Who is this?" 11 And the crowds said, "This is the prophet
Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee."

12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he
overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 13 He said
to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house of prayer,' but you make it a den of robbers."

14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the
chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying out in
the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant, 16 and they said to him, " Do you
hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read,

"'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise'?"

17 And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany and lodged there.
