Christmas for Cowboys
Tall in the saddle we spend Christmas day
Drivin' the cattle on the snow-covered plains
All of the good gifts given today
Ours is the sky and the wide open range
Back in the cities, they have different ways
Football and eggnog and Christmas parades
I'll take the saddle; I'll take the reins
Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains
A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night
The stars overhead are the Christmas tree lights
The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray
Christmas for Cowboys and the wide open plains
It's tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day
Drivin' the cattle on the snow-covered plains
So many gifts have been opened today
Ours is the sky and the wide open range
It's Christmas for Cowboys and wide open plains
The Christmas Story
The World Waits
Isaiah 9:2, 6-7
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
on them has light shone.
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
O Come O Come Emmanuel
O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!
O come, thou Dayspring, come and cheer
Our spirits by thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!
O, come, Desire of nations, bind
All peoples in one hert and mind
Bid Thou our sad divisions cease
And be Thyself our King of Peace
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to you, O Israel!
Light of the World (Sing Hallelujah)
Light of the World, Treasure of Heaven
Brilliant like the stars in the wintery sky
Joy of the Father, reach through the darkness
Shine across the earth send the shadows to flight
Light of the World, from the beginning
The tragedies of time were no match for your love
From great heights of glory, you saw my story
God, you entered in and became one of us
Sing hallelujah, sing hallelujah
Sing hallelujah for the things he has done
Come and adore him, bow down before him
Sing hallelujah to the Light of the World
Light of the World, crown in a manger
Born for the cross to suffer, to save
High King of Heaven, death is the poorer
We are the richer by the price that he paid
Chorus
Light of the World soon will be coming
With fire in his eyes he will ransom his own
Through clouds he will lead us straight into glory
And there he shall reign forevermore, forevermore
Chorus
The Announcement to Mary
Luke 1:26-38
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named
Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of
David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, O
favored one, the Lord is with you!" But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and
tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, "Do
not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive
in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and
will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne
of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom
there will be no end."
And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be, since I am a virgin?"
And the angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the
Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy- the Son
of God. And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son, and this
is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For nothing will be impossible with God."
And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.
And the angel departed from her.
What Child is This?
What Child is this, who, laid to rest
On Mary's lap is sleeping
Whom angels great with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping
This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Haste, haste to bring him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary
Why lies he in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding
Good Christian, fear; for sinners here
The silent word is pleading
Nails, spear shall pierce him through
The cross be borne for me, for you
Hail, hail the Word made flesh
The Babe, the Son of Mary
So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh
Come, peasant, king, to own him
The King of kings salvation brings
Let loving hearts enthrone him
Raise, raise the song on high
The virgin sings her lullaby
Joy, joy for Christ is born
The Babe, the Son of Mary
Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming
Lo, how a rose e'er blooming
From tender stem hath sprung
Of Jesse's lineage coming
As men of old have sung
It came, a flow'ret bright
Amid the cold of winter
When half spent was the night
Isaiah 'twas foretold it
The Rose I have in mind
With Mary we behold it
The virgin mother kind
To show God's love aright
She bore to us a Savior
When half spent was the night
The Birth of Jesus
Luke 2:1-7
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should
be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of
Syria. And all went to be registered, each to the own town. And Joseph also went
up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which
is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be
registered with Mary, his bethrothed, who was with child. And while they were there,
the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped
him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them
in the inn.
Infant Holy/Away in a Manger
Infant holy, Infant lowly, for his bed a cattle stall
Oxen lowing, little knowing, Christ the Babe is Lord of all
Swift are winging angels singing, noels ringing, tidings bringing
Christ the Babe is Lord of all
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay
Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping vigil till the morning new
Saw the glory, heard the story, tididngs of a Gospel true
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow, praises voicing, greet the morrow
Christ the Babe was born for you
Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever, and love me I pray
Bless all the dear children in thy tender care
And fit us for heaven to live with thee there
Unto Us
Crown him the Son of righteousness
Crown him the King above all kings
Let the nations declare he is Lord
Sing Emmanuel the Savior is born
He shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Everlasting One
Jesus the Savior, Peace to earth has come
We worship and adore him, the Lord
Jesus the Son of God he reigns
Forever his kingdom will not fail
God Almighty, in justice he comes
Sing Emmanuel, great is his love
Chorus
Unto us his love has come
Unto us Christ is born
Now to him be the glory and all the praise
(2x)
Now to him be the glory and all the praise (2x)
The Angels Sing to Shepherds
Luke 2:8-14
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over
their flock by night.
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around
them, and they were filled with great fear.
And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy
that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in
swaddling cloths and lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God
and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among those with whom he
is pleased!"
Angels We Have Heard on High
Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing o'er the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Shepherds, why this jubilee
Why your joyful strains prolong
Say what may the tidings be
Which inspire your heav'nly song
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the newborn King
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo
Angels from the Realms of Glory
Angels from the realms of glory
Wing your flight o'er all the earth
Ye who sang creation's story
Now proclaim Messiah's birth
Come and worship, come and worship
Worship Christ, the newborn King
Shepherds in the fields abiding
Watching o'er your flocks by night
God with man is now residing
Yonder shines the infant light
Chorus
Sages leave your contemplations
Brighter visions beam afar
Seek the great Desire of nations
You have seen his natal star
Chorus
All creation join in praising
God the Father, Spirit, Son
Evermore your voices raising
To th'Eternal Three in one
Chorus
The Shepherds Visit Jesus
Luke 2:15-20
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said
to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has
happened, which the Lord has made known to us."
And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying
in a manger.
And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them
concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds
told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard
and seen, as it had been told them.
O Holy Night
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining
It is the night of the dear Savior's birth
Long lay the world in sin and error pining
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth
A thrill of hope the weary soul rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn
Fall on your knees, oh, hear the angel voices
O night divine, O night when Christ was born
O night divine, O night, O night divine
Led by the light of faith serenely beaming
With glowing hearts by his cradle we stand
So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming
Here came the wise men from Orient land
The King of kings lay thus in lowly manger
In all our trials born to be our friend
He knows our need, to our weaknesses is no stranger
Behold your King, before him lowly bend (2x)
Truly he taught us to love one another
His law is love, and his gospel is peace
Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother
And in his name all oppression shall cease
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we
Let all within us praise his holy name
Christ is the Lord, O, praise his name forever
His power and glory evermore proclaim (2x)
Go Tell it on the Mountain
Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain that Jesus Christ is born
While shepherds kept their watching o'er silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens there shone a Holy Light
Chorus
The shepherds feared and trembled when lo! Above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus that hailed our Savior's birth
Down in a lowly manger the humble Christ was born
And brought us God's salvation that blessed Christmas morn!
Chorus
The Christmas Message
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This
man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher
come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him."
Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see
the kingdom of God..."
Nicodemus said to him, "How can these things be?"
Jesus answered him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand
these things?...If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you
believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven except he who
descended from heaven, the Son of Man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may
have eternal life.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world
to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
Silent Night
Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child!
Holy infant, so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories streams from heaven afar
Heavenly host sing: "Alleluia"
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born
Silent night! Holy night!
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth
