We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love

Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 99

1   The Lord reigns; let the peoples tremble!
He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
2   The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted over all the peoples.
3   Let them praise your great and awesome name!
       Holy is he!
4   The King in his might loves justice.
       You have established equity;

     you have executed justice
        and righteousness in Jacob.
5   Exalt the Lord our God;
       worship at his footstool!
        Holy is he!

6   Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel also was among those who called upon his name.
They called to the Lord, and he answered them.
7   In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
        they kept his testimonies
and the statute that he gave them.

8   O Lord our God, you answered them;
you were a forgiving God to them,

but an avenger of their wrongdoings.
9   Exalt the Lord our God,
        and worship at his holy mountain;
for the Lord our God is holy!

Love Lifted Me

I was sinking deep in sin
Far from that peaceful shore
Very deeply stained within
Sinking to rise no more
But the Master of the sea
Heard my despairing cry
From the waters lifted me
Now safe am I

Love lifted me, love lifted me
   When nothing else could help
   Love lifted me
Love lifted me, love lifted me
   When nothing else could help
   Love lifted me!

Souls in danger look above
Jesus completely saves
He will lift you by his love
Out of the angry waves
Love so mighty and so true
Merits my soul's best songs
Faithful loving service too
To him belongs

God So Loved the World

Come all you weary, come all you thirsty
Come to the well that never runs dry
Drink of the water, come and thirst no more

Come all you sinners, come find his mercy
Come to the table, he will satisfy
Taste of his goodness, find what you're looking for

For God so loved the wrold that he gave us
His one and only Son to save us
Whoever believes in him will live forever

Bring all your failures, bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting there with open arms (see his open arms)

The power of hell forever defeated
Now it is well, I'm walking in freedom
For God so loved, God so loved the world

Praise God, praise God
From whom all blessings flow
Praise him, praise him
For the wonders of his love

For God so loved the world that he gave us
His one and only Son to save

The power of hell forever defeated
Now it is well, I'm walking in freedom
For God so loved, God so loved the world

Bring all your failures, bring your addictions
Come lay them down at the foot of the cross
Jesus is waiting
God so loved the world

From This Valley

Oh, the desert dreams of a river
That will run down to the sea
Like my heart longs for an ocean
To wash down over me

Oh, won't you take me from this valley
   To that mountain high above
   I will pray, pray, pray
Until I see your smiling face
   I will pray, pray, pray
   To the one I love

Oh, the outcast dreams of acceptance
Just to find pure love's embrace
Like an orphan longs for his mother
May you hold me in your grace

   Ooh - Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh (2x)

Oh, the caged bird dreams of a strong wind
That will flow 'neath her wings
Like a voice longs for a melody
Oh, Jesus carry me

I will pray, pray, pray
Until I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray
To the one I love

Living Witnesses
Acts 1:1-11
ecclesia examen (6)
Steve Gilbertson

Acts 1:1-11

"As living witnesses of God's new creation in Christ Jesus, ecclesia is a community
of faith, love and hope...." These words are printed every week in our worship
folder. But what do they mean, and how do we live them out in our day-to-day
lives as a church? We'll talk about that this morning.

1 In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach,
2 until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy
Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 He presented himself alive to them after
his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about
the kingdom of God.

4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait
for the promise of the Father, which, he said, "you heard from me; 5 for John baptized
with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."

6 So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the
kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the
Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has
come upon you, and you will be my wtinesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and
to the end of the earth." 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was
lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as
he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, "Men of Galilee, why do
you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come
in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."
