Psalm 103

1   Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
        bless his holy name!
2   Bless the Lord, O my soul
and forget not all his benefits,
3   who forgives all your iniquity,
       who heals all your diseases,
4   who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

5   who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

6   The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7   He made known his ways to Moses,
his acts to the people of Israel.
8   The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9   He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
10  He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11  For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
        so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him;
12  as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
13  As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
14  For he knows our frame;
he remembers that we are dust.

15  As for man, his days are like grass;
        he flourishes like a flower of the field;
16  for the wind passes over it, and it is gone,
and its place knows it no more.
17  But the steadfast love of the Lord is from
everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him,
and his righteousness to children's children,
18  to those who keep his covenant
and remember to do his commandments.
19  The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.

20  Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21  Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!
22  Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Let My Life Be a Light

Let me live, blessed Lord, in the light of thy word
Let my life be a light on a hill
Leading souls now astray to the straight narrow way
Help me do some good deed while I live

Let my life be a light shining out through the night
May I help struggling ones to the fold
Spreading cheer everywhere to the sad and the lone
Let my life be a light to some soul

Give me wisdom and power, every day, every hour
Let me drink from the fountain above
And guide my footsteps aright through this dark and stormy night
Give me peace, give me joy, give me love

   Chorus

Give me souls for my hire, let my light be on fire
Shining out to the world as a guide
Help me rescue someone sinking now with no hope
That in heaven we shall ever abide

   Chorus

From This Valley

Oh, the desert dreams of a river
That will run down to the sea
Like my heart longs for an ocean
To wash down over me

Oh, won't you take me from this valley
   To that mountain high above
   I will pray, pray, pray
Until I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray to the one I love

Oh, the outcast dreams of acceptance
Just to find pure love's embrace
Like an orphan longs for his mother
May you hold me in your grace

   Chorus

   Ooh - Oh, Oh, Oh
Oh, Oh, Oh, - Oh, Oh, Oh (2x)

Oh, the caged bird dreams of a strong wind

That will flow 'neath her wings
Like a voice longs for a melody
Oh, Jesus carry me

   Chorus

I will pray, pray, pray
Until I see your smiling face
I will pray, pray, pray
To the one I love

It is Well

When peace, like a river attendeth my way
When sorrows like sea billows roll
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say
"It is well, it is well, with my soul"

It is well with my soul
It is well, it is well, with my soul

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come
Let his blest assurance control
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate
And hath shed his own blood for my soul

   Chorus

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought
My sin, not in part but the whole
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul

   Chorus

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend
Even so, it is well with my soul

   Chorus

Love Abides
John 15
Jesus' Last Evening
Steve Gilbertson

John 15

John 13-17 is commonly referred to as the Farewell Discourse, for it give us an
extended look at what Jesus said in his last evening with his disciples before his
arrest. Jesus' main concern? Love one another. Two weeks ago: Love serves (ch. 13).

Last week: Love obeys (ch. 14). This week: Love abides.

15 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not
bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear
more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide
in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine,
neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever
abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches
are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear
much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.
Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept
my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my
joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has
no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do
what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his
master is doing but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made
known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and
bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he
may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.

18 "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the
world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you
out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: 'A servant
is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my
word, they will also keep yours. 21 But all these things they will do to you on acount of my name,
because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not
have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my
Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty
of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But the word that is written in
their Law must be fulfilled: 'They hated me without a cause.'

26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who
proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because
you have been with me from the beginning.
