Psalm 105

1   Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name;
        make known his deeds among the peoples!
2   Sing to him, sing praises to him;
        tell of all his wondrous works!
3   Glory in his holy name;
       let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
4   Seek the Lord and his strength;
       seek his presence continually!

5   Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
       his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
6   O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
        children of Jacob, his chosen ones!

7   He is the Lord our God;
        his judgments are in all the earth.
8   He remembers his covenant forever,
        the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
9   the covenant that he made with Abraham,
        his sworn promise to Isaac,
10  which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
        to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11  saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan
        as your portion for an inheritance."

12  When they were few in number,
        of little account, and sojourners in it,
13  wandering from nation to nation,
        from one kingdom to another people,
14  he allowed no one to oppress them;
        he rebuked kings on their account,
15  saying, "Touch not my anointed ones,
        do my prophets no harm!"

16  When he summoned a famine on the land
        and broke all supply of bread,
17  he had sent a man ahead of them,
        Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
18  His feet were hurt with fetters;
        his neck was put in a collar of iron;
19  until what he had said came to pass,
        the word of the Lord tested him.
20  The king sent and released him;
        the ruler of the peoples set him free;
21  he made him lord of his house
        and ruler of all his possessions,
22  to bind his princes at his pleasure
        and to teach his elders wisdom.

23  Then Israel came to Egypt;
        Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
24  And the Lord made his people very fruitful
        and made them stronger than their foes.
25  He turned their hearts to hate his people,
        to deal craftily with his servants.

26  He sent Moses, his servant,
        and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
27  They performed his signs among them
        and miracles in the land of Ham.
28  He sent darkness, and made the land dark;
        they did not rebel against his words.
29  He turned their waters into blood
        and caused their fish to die.
30  Their land swarmed with frogs,
        even in the chambers of their kings.
31  He spoke, and there came swarms of flies,
        and gnats throughout their country.
32  He gave them hail for rain,
        and fiery lightning bolts through their land.
33  He struck down their vines and fig trees,
        and shattered the trees of their country.
34  He spoke, and the locusts came,
        young locusts without number,
35  which devoured all the vegetation in their land
        and ate up the fruit of their ground.
36  He struck down all the firstborn in their land,
        the firstfruits of all their strength.

37  Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold,
        and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
38  Egypt was glad when they departed,
        for dread of them had fallen upon it.

39  He spread a cloud for a covering,
        and fire to give light by night.
40  They asked, and he brought quail,
        and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.
41  He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
        it flowed through the desert like a river.
42  For he remembered his holy promise,
        and Abraham, his servant.

43  So he brought his people out with joy,
        his chosen ones with singing.
44  And he gave them the lands of the nations,
        and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples' toil,
45  that they might keep his statutes
        and observe his laws.
      Praise the Lord!

Thank You for Your Blessings

   Lord I just want to thank you for your blessings
   You have been so very good to me
   Lord I just want to thank you for your blessings
   And never let them slip my memory

Though sometimes you know I seem ungrateful
For the things that you have done for me
I just want to stop right now and thank you, Lord
For the blessings that I can and cannot see

   Chorus

The smiling eyes of a tiny baby
A home that's filled with love
Oh, I just want to stop right now and thank you, Lord
I could never thank you enough

   Chorus

I look outside, a brand new day is dawning
Once again you've let me breathe and wake
Oh, I just want to stop right now and thank you, Lord
For giving me the joy of one more day

   Chorus

The Lamb Has Overcome

The Lamb has overcome
The Lamb has overcome
The battle's done
And the victory is won
For the Lamb has overcome

No grave could hold him down

No grave could hold him down
Up from the ground
"He is risen!" was the sound
No grave could hold him down

At God's right hand is he
At God's right hand is he
Our Perfect Plea
How he lives to intercede
At God's right hand is he

   Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
   Glory be unto his name (2x)

The table now is spread
The table now is spread
This wine and bread
Broken body and blood shed
The table now is spread

The day is drawing near
The day is drawing near
He shall appear
And will wipe away each tear
The day is drawing near

   Chorus (4x)

The Lamb has overcome
The Lamb has overcome
The battle's done
And the victory is won
For the Lamb has overcome

Because He Lives (Amen)

I believe in the Son
I believe in the risen One
I believe I overcome
By the power of his blood

   Amen, Amen
   I'm alive, I'm alive because he lives
   Amen, Amen
   Let my song join the one that never ends
   Because he lives

I was dead in the grave
I was covered in sin and shame
I heard mercy call my name
He rolled the stone away

   Chorus

(Because he lives) I can face tomorrow
Because he lives every fear is gone
I know he holds my life, my future in his hand

   Chorus (2x)
   Because he lives
   Because he lives

Jesus Appears to Allay our Fears
John 20:19-23
Eastertide
Steve Gilbertson

John 20

Easter is WAY too important to leave it after one Sunday. After all, the
resurrection of Jesus is the most important day in the history of the world.
So let's continue our trek through the resurrection appearances in John's

Gospel. Last week Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene weeping at the tomb.
Today he appears to fearful disciples huddled in a room.

20 Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while
it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2 So
she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved,
and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know
where they have laid him." 3 So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they
were going toward the tomb. 4 Both of them were running together, but the other
disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 And stooping to look in, he saw
the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came, following
him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth,
which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place
by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and
he saw and believed; 9 for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must
rise from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went back to their homes.

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into
the tomb. 12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain,
one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping?"
She said to them, "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have
laid him." 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did
not know that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Whom
are you seeking?" Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have
carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." 16 Jesus
said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means
Teacher). 17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the
Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, 'I am ascending to my Father and your
Father, to my God and your God.'" 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the
disciples, "I have seen the Lord"- and that he had said these things to her.

19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where
the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to
them, "Peace be with you." 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his
side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again,
"Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you." 22 And when
he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If
you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any,
it is witheld."

24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless
I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails,
and place my hand into his side, I will never believe."

26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although
the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you."
27 Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand,
and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe." 28 Thomas answered him, "My Lord
and my God!" 29 Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed
are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in
this book; 31 but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son
of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
