Psalm 110

1   The Lord says to my Lord:
        "Sit at my right hand,
until I make your enemies your footstool."

2   The Lord sends forth from Zion
        your mighty scepter.
Rule in the midst of your enemies!
3   Your people will offer themselves freely
on the day of your power,
        in holy garments;
from the womb of the morning,
the dew of your youth will be yours.
4   The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind,

     "You are a priest forever
        after the order of Melchizedek."

5   The Lord is at your right hand;
he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath.
6   He will execute judgment among the nations,
        filling them with corpses;
     he will shatter chiefs
        over all the earth.
7   He will drink from the brook by the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.

Higher Ground

I'm pressing on the upward way
New heights I'm gaining every day
Still praying as I'm onward bound
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground"

Lord, lift me up and let me stand
   By faith, on Heaven's tableland
A higher plane than I have found
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground

My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay
Though some may dwell where those abound
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground

   Chorus

I want to live above the world
Though Satan's darts at me are hurled
For faith has caught the joyful sound
The song of saints on higher gound

   Chorus

This is Amazing Grace

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder
Who leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

   This is amazing grace
   This is unfailing love
That you would take my place

That you would bear my cross
   You laid down your life
That I would be set free
   Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that you've done for me

Who brings our chaos back into order
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
Who rules the nations with truth and justice
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings

   Chorus

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave (3x)
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy, worthy, worthy, worthy

   Chorus

King of My Heart

Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, he is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the shadow where I hide
The ranson for my life
Oh, he is my song

   You are good, good, Oh
   You are good, good, Oh
   You are good, good, Oh
   You are good, good, Oh

Let the King of my heart
Be the wind inside my sails
The anchor in the waves
Oh, he is my song
Let the King of my heart
Be the fire inside my viens
The echo of my days
Oh, he is my song

   Chorus

You're never gonna let
Never gonna let me down (4x)

   Chorus

When the night is holding on to me
God is holding on (2x)

Jesus Taken Up into Heaven
Acts 1:6-14
Ascension Sunday
Erik Lundin

Acts 1

1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach 2 until
the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the
apostles he had chosen. 3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many
convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and
spoke about the kingdom of God. 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave
them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which
you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be
baptized with the Holy Spirit."

6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore
the kingdom to Israel?"

7 He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own
authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 9 After he
said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.

10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed
in white stood beside them. 11 "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into
the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same
way you have seen him go into heaven."

12 Then the apostles returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath
day's walk from the city. 13 When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were
staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew
and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They
all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus,
and with his brothers.

15 In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and
twenty) 16 and said, "Brothers and sisters, the Scritpure had to be fulfilled in which the Holy Spirit
spoke long ago through David concerning Judas, who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus.
17 He was one of our number and shared in our ministry."

18 (With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong,
his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out. 19 Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so
they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.)

20 "For," said Peter, "it is written in the Book of Psalms:

             "'May his place be deserted;
let there be no one to dwell in it,' and,

"'May another take his place of leadership.'

21 Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord
Jesus was living among us, 22 beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from
us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

23 So they nominated two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias. 24 Then
they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen 25 to take
over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." 26 Then they cast lots, and the
lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.
