Psalm 116

1   I love the Lord, because he has heard
        my voice and my pleas for mercy.
2   Because he inclined his ear to me,
        therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3   The snares of death encompassed me;
       the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
        I suffered distress and anguish.

4   Then I called on the name of the Lord:
       "O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!"

5   Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
       our God is merciful.
6   The Lord preserves the simple;
        when I was brought low, he saved me.
7   Return, O my soul, to your rest;
        for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8   For you have delivered my soul from death,
        my eyes from tears,
        my feet from stumbling;

9   I will walk before the Lord
        in the land of the living.

10  I believed, even when I spoke:
        "I am greatly afflicted";
11  I said in my alarm,
        "All mankind are liars."

12  What shall I render to the Lord
        for all his benefits to me?
13  I will lift up the cup of salvation
        and call on the name of the Lord,
14  I will pay my vows to the Lord
        in the presence of all his people.

15  Precious in the sight of the Lord
        is the death of his saints.
16  O Lord, I am your servant;

        I am your servant, the son of your maidservant.
        You have loosed my bonds.

17  I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
        and call on the name of the Lord.
18  I will pay my vows to the Lord
        in the presence of all his people,
19  in the courts of the house of the Lord,
        in your midst, O Jerusalem.
     Praise the Lord!

Welcome Table

   I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
   I'm gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days

   I'm gonna sit at the welcome table
   Sit at the welcome table one of these days, one of these days

I'm gonna feast on milk and honey
I'm gonna feast on milk and honey one of these days

I'm gonna feast on milk and honey
Gonna feast on milk and honey one of these days

   Chorus

All God's children gonna sit together
All God's children gonna sit together one of these days, hallelujah
All God's children gonna sit together
All of God's children gonna sit together one of these days, one of these days

   Chorus

Abide with Me

I have a home, eternal home
But for now I walk this broken world

You walked it first, you know our pain
But you show hope can rise again up from the grave

   Abide with me, abide with me
   Don't let me fall, and don't let go
   Walk with me and never leave
   *Ever close, God abide with me
   (repeat last time)

There in the night, Gethsemane
Before the cross, before the nails
Overwhelmed, alone you prayed
You met us in our suffering and bore our shame

   Chorus

Oh love that will not ever let me go
Love that will not ever let me go
You never let me go
Love that will not ever let me go

And up ahead, eternity
We'll weep no more and sing for joy
Abide with me
We'll weep no more and sing for joy
Abide with me

   Chorus

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father

There is no shadow of turning with thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be

   Great is Thy faithfulness
   Great is Thy faithfulness

   Morning by morning new mercies I see
   All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
   Great is Thy faithfulness
   Lord unto me

Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest

Sun, moon and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature

In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love

   Chorus

Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside

   Chorus

And Then the End will Come:
The Beginning of Birth Pains
Matthew 24:1-14
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Steve Gilbertson

As we resume our trek through the Gospel of Matthew, we meet Jesus just before he is
crucified. This section, often called The Olivet Discourse, is the last of Jesus' five
speeches in Matthew. It answers the disciples' question about the destruction of the
Jerusalem Temple: "Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your
coming and of the end of the age?" Jesus' response has challenged and encouraged his

followers ever since.

Matthew 24:1-14 (ESV)

24 Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the
buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, "You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say
to you, there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down."

3 As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will
these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?" 4 And Jesus
answered them, "See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am
the Christ,' and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that
you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.
8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all
nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one
another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will
be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all
nations, and then the end will come.
