ecclesia song

We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love

Psalm 120

1   In my distress I called to the Lord,
        and he answered me.
2   Deliver me, O Lord,
        from lying lips,
        from a deceitful tongue.

3   What shall be given to you,
and what more shall be done to you,
        you deceitful tongue?
4   A warrior's sharp arrows,
with glowing coals fo the broom tree!

5   Woe to me, that I sojourn in Meshech,
that I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
6   Too long have I had my dwelling
        among those who hate peace.
7   I am for peace,
but when I speak, they are for war!

Let My Life Be a Light

Let me live, blessed Lord, in the light of thy word
Let my life be a light on a hill
Leading souls now astray to the straight narrow way
Help me do some good deed while I live

Let my life be a light shining out through the night
May I help struggling ones to the fold
Spreading cheer everywhere to the sad and the lone
Let my life be a light to some soul

Give me wisdom and power every day, every hour
Let me drink from the fountain above
And guide my footsteps aright through this dark and stormy night
Give me peace, give me joy, give me love

   Chorus

Give me souls for my hire, let my life be on fire
Shining out to the world as a guide
Help me rescue someone sinking now with no hope
That in heaven we shall ever abide

   Chorus

O Love that will not Let me Go

O love that will not let me go
I rest my weary soul in thee

I give thee back the life I owe
That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be

O light that followest all my way
I yield my flickering torch to thee
My heart restores its borrowed ray
That in thy sunshine's blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be

O joy that seekest me through pain
I cannot close my heart to thee
I trace the rainbow through the rain
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be

O cross that liftest up my head
I dare not ask to fly from thee
I lay in dust life's glory dead
And from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be

I Can't Even Walk

I thought number one would surely be me
I thought I could be what I wanted to be

I thought I could build on life's sinking sand
But now I can't even walk without you holding my hand

Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand
The mountains too high and the valleys too wide

Down on my knees that's where I learned to stand
Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand

I thought I could do a lot on my own
I thought I could make it all alone

I thought of myself as a mighty big man
But Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand

   Chorus

I think I'll make Jesus my all and all
And if I'm in trouble on his name I'll call
If I didn't trust him, I'd be less of a man
'Cause Lord I can't even walk without you holding my hand

   Chorus

Oh Lord, I can't even walk without you holding my hand

Serving the King's Brothers
Matthew 25:31-46
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Steve Gilbertson

"Be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect" (24:44). Jesus
then tells stories and parables to let us know what it takes to be prepared for his
return. We've seen the faithful steward (24:45ff), the wise women (25:1ff), and the
and the responsible servants (25:14ff). In today's text, Jesus tells us about the final
judgment of the King (25:31ff).

Matthew 25:31-46 (ESV)

31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit
on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate
people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will
place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on
his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from
the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you
gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me,
I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 37 Then the righteous
will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give
you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' 40 And the King will answer them,
'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire
prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was
thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and
you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' 44 Then they also will answer,
saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison,
and did not minister to you?' 45 Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly, I say to you, as you
did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' 46 And these will go away into
eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
