Psalm 123
1 To you I lift up my eyes,
O you who are enthroned in the heavens!
2 Behold, as the eyes of servants
look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a maidservant
to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
till he has mercy upon us.
3 Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of contempt.
4 Our soul has had more than enough
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the proud.
Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Come Thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of thy redeeming love
Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed his precious blood
O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, O take a seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above
God is So Good
No height or depth can separate
Your steadfast love who can escape
Your faithfulness an endless sea
So full of grace and mercy
We sing God is so good
God is so good
God is so good
He's so good to me
Haunted by the past no more
My innocence has been restored
Forgiveness flows from your veins
Your kindness shown in all your ways
Chorus
(Oh there's) never been anyone like you
Never been anyone like you
You are worthy, you are worthy
(repeat)
Hope is rising like the sun
The old is gone, the new has come
I fix my eyes on Christ alone
My Rock, my Shield, my Cornerstone
Chorus
God is so good
He's so good to me
Only a Holy God
Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God
What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendor outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God
Come and behold him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God
What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God
Chorus
Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer his only Son
Who else invites me to call him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God
Chorus
Watch and Pray, or Fall Away
Matthew 26:30-46
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew
Steve Gilbertson
The moment of truth is just around the corner. Within an hour, Jesus will be arrested.
Will they be ready? In a poignant and personal scene, we will see how Jesus and his
disciples prepared for their moment of truth. Today we focus on the disciples, and
especially Peter, to whom Jesus said, "Watch and pray...."
Matthew 26:30-46 (ESV)
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Jesus
said to them, "You will all fall away because of me this night. For it is written, 'I will strike
the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' 32 But after I am raised up, I
will go before you to Galilee." 33 Peter answered him, "Though they all fall away because of
you, I will never fall away." 34 Jesus said to him, "Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the
rooster crows, you will deny me three times." 35 Peter said to him, "Even if I must die with
you, I will not deny you!" And all the disciples said the same.
36 Then Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples,
"Sit here, while I go over there and pray." 37 And taking with him Peter and the two sons of
Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, "My soul is very
sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me." 39 And going a little farther he
fell on his face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me;
nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will." 40 And he came to the disciples and found them
sleeping. And he said to Peter, "So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41 Watch and pray
that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."
42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, "My Father, if this cannot pass unless
I drink it, your will be done." 43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were
heavy. 44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same
words again. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, "Sleep and take your rest later
on. See, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise,
let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand."
