ecclesia song

We are called to faith, gathered in love
Sent with hope to change the world
We are called to faith, gathered in love
ecclesia, ecclesia, Church at the Chip

Called to Faith, Gathered in Love,
   Sent with Hope – ecclesia!

Psalm 126

1   When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
2   Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
        and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then they said among the nations,
"The Lord has done great things for them."
3   The Lord has done great things for us;
       we are glad.

4   Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
       like streams in the Negeb!

5   Those who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6   He who goes out weeping,
        bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
        bringing his sheaves with him.

I've Been Set Free

   I've been set free
   I've been set free
Since Jesus saed my soul I've been set free
With blinded eyes I could not see
   But the Lord delivered me
Now I praise his only name I've been set free

Once when Jesus came to town
Everybody gathered 'round
All the sick and lame were brought to him that day
When the blind man begged for sight
He shouted out with great delight
Jesus touched his eyes and healed him on that day

   Chorus

Once my life was steeped in sin
But I wouldn't let him in
I thought that I could make it on my own
Farther down sin's road I went
Saw no reason to repent
Then Jesus intervened and rescued me

   Chorus

Sinner friend if you're in doubt and you see there's no way out
You find yourself alone in sinkin' sand
Why not give my God a try
Your thirsty soul he'll satisfy
You'll find your place in heaven when you die

   Chorus

Only a Holy God

Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God

What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendor outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God

   Come and behold him
   The One and the Only
   Cry out, sing holy
   Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God

   Chorus

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer his only Son
Who else invites me to call him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God

   Chorus

Remedy

Here we are, here we are
The broken and used, mistreated, abused
Here we are
Here you are, here you are
The beautiful one who came like a Son
Here you are

So we lift up our voices, we open our hands
To cling to the love that we can't comprehend
Oh, lift up your voices and lift up your heads
To sing of the love that has freed us from sin

He is the one who has saved us
He is the one who *embraced us
   (*2nd time forgave)
He is the one who has come and is coming again
   He's the remedy

Here we are, here we are

Bandaged and bruised, awaiting a cure
Here we are
Here you are, here you are
Our beautiful King, bringing relief
Here you are with us

So we lift up our voices and open our hands
Let go of the things that have kept us from him

   Chorus

Oh, I can't comprehend, I can't take it all in
Never understand such perfect love
Come for the broken and beat, for the wounded and weak
Oh, come fall at his feet
He's the remedy, he's the remedy

Chorus

The Coward in the Courtyard
Matthew 26:69-75
The World's True King: A Study in Matthew

Steve Gilbertson

The darkness continues to close in. First, the betrayal in the garden. Next, the trial in
the palace. Now, the denial int eh courtyard. We can hardly bear to watch as Peter, who
brashly declared his allegiance in teh garden, now shamefully denies his master in the
courtyard. What are we to make of his cowardly behavior? We'll talk about that this
morning.

Matthew 26:69-75 (ESV)

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said,
"You also were with Jesus the Gililean." 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not
know what you mean." 71 And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him,
and she said to the bystanders, "This man was with Jesus of Nazareth." 72 And again he denied
it with an oath: "I do not know the man." 73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said
to Peter, "Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you." 74 Then he began to
invoke a curse on himself and to swear, " I do not know the man." And immediately the rooster
crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny
me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly.
