Psalm 147
1 Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.
2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.
6 The Lord lifts up the humble;
he casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving;
make melody to our God on the lyre!
8 He covers the heavens with clouds;
he prepares rain for the earth;
he makes grass grow on the hills.
9 He gives to the beasts their food,
and to the young ravens that cry.
10 His delight is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,
11 but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
in those who hope in his steadfast love.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, Zion!
13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates;
he blesses your children within you.
14 He makes peace in your borders;
he fills you with the finest of the wheat.
15 He sends out his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
16 He gives snow like wool;
he scatters frost like ashes.
17 He hurls down his crystals of ice like crumbs;
who can stand before his cold?
18 He sends out his word, and melts them;
he makes his wind blow and the waters flow.
19 He declares his word to Jacob,
his statutes and rules to Israel.
20 He has not dealt thus with any other nation;
they do not know his rules.
Praise the Lord!
Oh How I Need You
Lord, I find you in the seeking
Lord, I find you in the doubt
And to know you is to love you
And to know so little else
I need you, Oh, how I need you
Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
(repeat all)
Lord, I find you in the morning
Lord, I seek you every day
Let my life be for your glory
Woven in your threads of grace
Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh
Light, glorious light, I will go where you shine
Break the dawn, crack the skies
Make the way bright before me
In your light I will find
All I need, all I need is you
(repeat)
Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
Oh, how I need you, Oh, how I need you
Only a Holy God
Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God
What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendor outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God
Come and behold him
The One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy
Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God
What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God
Chorus
Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer his only Son
Who else invites me to call him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God
Chorus
Come As You Are
Come out of sadness from wherever you've been
Come, brokenhearted let rescue begin
Come find your mercy, O sinner come kneel
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't heal
Lay down your burdens
Lay down your shame
All who are broken
Lift up your face
O wanderer, come home
You're not too far
So lay down your hurt, lay down your heart
Come as you are
There's hope for the hopeless
And all those who've strayed
Come sit at the table
Come taste the grace
There's rest for the weary
Rest that endures
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't cure ... So...
Chorus
Come as you are
Come as you are
Fall in his arms
Come as you are
There's joy for the morning, O sinner, be still
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't heal
Earth has no sorrow that heaven can't heal
In Step with the Truth of the Gospel
The Gospel Changes Everything: A Study in Galatians #6
Galatians 2:11-21
Steve Gilbertson
Peter, who had been sharng the ame table with Gentile believers, refused to do so
when certain Jewish believers from Jerusalem came to visit Paul's home church in
Antioch. This led to a public rebuke by Paul, accusing him of not living "in step with
the truth of the gospel." We can't help but wonder: "What is the truth of the gospel,
and how had Peter stepped out of line?"
Galatians 2:11-21 (ESV)
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned.
12 For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they
came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party. 13 And the rest of
the Jews acted hypocritically along with him, so that even Barnabas was led astray by their
hypocrisy. 14 But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I
said to Cephas before them all, "If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how
can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?"
15 We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; 16 yet we know that a person is not
justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ
Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of
the law no one will be justified.
17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then
a servant of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor.
19 For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with
Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live
by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God,
for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
